Salary based on the current agreement with IAFF Local 3674. Lateral pay is dependent on qualifications.

All new hires attend the 12-week Washington State Fire Academy, earning:

  • IFSAC Firefighter I & II
  • IFSAC Hazmat Awareness & Operations
  • 50+ hours of live fire training

Plus a 4-week Pump Academy to strengthen your operational skills.


Meet the Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Age 18+
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record
  • Physically fit and able to meet WA firefighter medical standards
  • Fluent in reading and speaking English
  • Current Washington EMT or Paramedic certification, or NREMT equivalent

Lateral Candidate Requirements

  • Employed full-time as a career firefighter for 1+ year
  • Desired certifications:
    • IFSAC Firefighter I & II
    • IFSAC Hazmat Awareness & Operations
  • Lateral Paramedics must:
    • Be WA-certified and/or NREMT-P
    • Graduate from a CAAHEP-accredited Paramedic program
    • Have ACLS and PALS/PEEPS
    • Obtain Clark County Medical Program Director endorsement within 90 days

Complete the Application Process
  • Complete FireTEAM and PSSA exams
  • Complete CPAT
  • Lateral applicants are exempt from written/PSSA testing
  • Submit Spark Hire online interview
